International law firm SJ Berwin has advised Project Grande (Guernsey) Limited, owner of One Hyde Park, The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, on the letting of the first of three retail units at the residential development at 100 Knightsbridge, London SW1. The letting is to Lancaster plc, a subsidiary of Jardine Motor Group, and is for a term of 15 years. The unit will become McLaren Automotives’ flagship showroom, selling McLaren high performance sports cars. The architecture of One Hyde Park, which is due for completion this Autumn, will establish it as a landmark development, its prime location in Knightsbridge guaranteeing immediate recognition and exclusivity as just one of three key retail spaces. This will ensure a genuinely unique experience for sports car buyers. The area of the ground floor retail unit is 3,186 sq ft; the rent is confidential. The SJ Berwin team was led by real estate partner Bryan Pickup together with associates Deanna Clark and Madonna Kinsey, with partner William Naunton of Eversheds advising the tenant. In a second retail letting deal, SJ Berwin advised The Co-Operative Insurance Society on its letting at 111-115 New Bond Street W1 to New Bond Street Properties (a group company of Limited Brands Inc) for a term of 35 years. This will be the European debut for Victoria’s Secret, the American lingerie chain. The new letting involved the surrender of existing leases by Armani Casa and Pringle. The SJ Berwin team was led by real estate partner Bryan Pickup. Jane Edwardes of Slaughter & May advised the tenant.
