Norton Rose announces new banking partner in Rome
Norton Rose Studio Legale, the international legal practice, today announced that Umberto Mauro will be joining the practice in Rome as a banking partner. Umberto joins from Macchi di Cellere Gangemi. Umberto has extensive knowledge of securitisation, structured finance, public finance, carbon finance, acquisition finance and global loans. He has broad experience of banking transactions and regulatory matters having acted for banks, major corporations, rating agencies and public authorities. Rome banking partner Stefano Zappala, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Umberto to our banking team. He has specialised in the area of securitisation since the market opened in 1999 and his expertise will be a good fit with the existing capabilities of our Italian banking team.” Global Head of Banking, Stephen Parish commented: “Our objective is to grow our banking practice in Italy. We already have a strong presence and reputation in the fields of project, export, acquisition, real estate and shipping finance and with the addition of Umberto to the team we expect to see our securitisation, structured finance and debt capital markets practice grow. Furthermore, Umberto’s experience in the areas of carbon financing and securitisation of receivables of solar energy projects fits well within our global banking capabilities.” This announcement follows the recent news that Davide Proverbio will join the Milan office as a corporate finance partner to build the private equity practice. There will now be ten partners divided between the Rome and Milan offices.
