Norton Rose advise Vattenfall on proposed acquisition of Eclipse Energy UK plc
International legal practice Norton Rose Group has advised VattenfallAB (publ), the leading Swedish energy company, on its recommended cash offer for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Eclipse Energy UK plc (Eclipse). Vattenfall announced its intention to acquire Eclipse on 18 September 2008 at an offer price of 1,801 per share, valuing Eclipse at £51.5 million. Vattenfall’s core business is to produce and provide electricity and heat to it’s customers throughout Europe. Vattenfall generates, distributes and sells electricity and heat, both to private households and industrial customers and is Europe’s fifth largest generator of electricity and the largest generator of heat. The Norton Rose Group team is being led by Anthony Riley assisted by Jason Moss, Andy Savage and Alexandra de Meyrick. Energy advice was provided by Nicholas Pincott, Simon Currie and John Wood, with assistance from Michael Hardy, Doreen Tchan, Ed Walshe, James Sanford, Sarah Jones and Lee Kelsall. Nick Howard and Emma Sinclair advised on employment issues and incentives advice is being provided by Richard Latham.
