Cleary Gottlieb Represents GlaxoSmithKline plc on an Acquisition in Egypt
Cleary Gottlieb represented GlaxoSmithKline plc, jointly with Slaughter and May, in GSK's $210 million acquisition of certain pharmaceutical assets of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in Egypt. The purchase agreement was signed on October 14, and the deal is expected to close by November 1, 2008. The Cleary Gottlieb team was led by London-based partner Sebastian Sperber, assisted by associates Evan Schwartz, Jeremy Keele and Kristina Hokenberg. London-based partner Sheldon Alster and associate Russell Jones advised on tax issues.
