SJ Berwin LLP advises new client Hok on new space in Qube
European law firm SJ Berwin’s real estate division has advised leading architectural firm HOK International on its taking of over 27,000 sq ft of space at Derwent London’s Qube Development in central London, for its new headquarters. HOK has taken a 15 year lease at the scheme at 90 Whitfield Road, W1 at a rent of £50/sq ft on the first floor and £56/sq ft on the section of the third floor that it will occupy. Other occupiers in the building include consultancy group Tribal, media agency Vizeum and sushi chain Itsu. James Berry, HOK director of management and operations, said: ‘HOK understand that the built environment has a profound affect on people’s lives. As a signature building in a strong, central W1 location, it will place our staff at the very heart of London’s commercial design and creative industries.’ Real estate partner Nick Minkoff led the SJ Berwin team, assisted by Senior Assistant, Claire Rigby. James Miller, partner at CMS, assisted by Chris Harvey, Senior Assistant advised Derwent London. This is the first time SJ Berwin has acted for HOK, although the practices knew each other well, following the work HOK carried out as architects for SJ Berwin’s award winning offices at 10 Queen Street Place, London EC4.
