Slaughter and May advised Morgan Stanley & Co. International plc and ABN Amro Bank N.V., Hong Kong Branch, as placing agents in relation to the placing of 10,809,154,259 existing H shares in Bank of China Limited held indirectly by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc. The proceeds of the placing were approximately US$2.4 billion. The placing was announced on 13 January, 2009. Bank of China Limited is a PRC state-owned commercial bank and its shares are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
