Dechert announces four new Moscow hires

Dechert LLP announced today that litigators Oxana Peters, Timur Djabbarov, and Yuri Makhonin have joined the firm in Moscow. Also joining is corporate lawyer Olga Watson, who will divide her time between Moscow and London.
Dechert is one of the top-ranked firms globally for corporate and securities, complex litigation, finance and real estate, and financial services and asset management. The firm opened a Moscow office in May with the hire of a team led by internationally recognised partners Laura Brank and Shane DeBeer. With the addition of these four new hires, Dechert now has 16 lawyers in its Moscow team.
“Oxana, Timur and Yuri are highly talented litigators, and their expertise in acting for clients in Russian courts and on international arbitration matters complements our existing transactional focus perfectly,” commented Laura Brank, Managing Partner of the Moscow office. “I'm also thrilled that Olga is joining us. Olga is a highly experienced transactional lawyer who previously worked very closely with the senior team for over seven years on some of the leading transactions in Russia and throughout the region.”
Oxana Peters, counsel, is a seasoned litigator who has been involved in a wide range of litigation matters in Russia. She has represented Russian and international clients – including REWE/BILLA, CLAAS, and Jungheinrich – in courts and in arbitration forums on commercial, tax, construction, product liability, and debt recovery matters, and has defended clients in courts against corporate raiders. She also has represented Russian and international companies in the recognition and enforcement of foreign court judgments and arbitral awards in Russia. Oxana was previously counsel at Salans in Moscow, and prior to that, head of the dispute resolution practice at the Moscow office of German law firm Noerr Stiefenhofer Lutz. Oxana graduated from the Law College of Moscow State University in 1999, and received a master's degree in private law from the Scientific Development Center of Private Law under the President of the Russian Federation, Russian School of Private Law, in 2002. She was admitted as an advocate in Russia in 2002 and is a regular lecturer at the Russian Research Centre of Private Law. Oxana is fluent in German and English, in addition to her native Russian language.
Olga Watson, associate, advises on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and joint venture transactions in Russia and the CIS. Olga has represented leading companies – including Daimler, Boeing, PepsiCo and Kinross Gold – in the mining, automotive, telecommunications, consumer products, banking and other industries on a range of cross-border transactions. She also has experience as a litigator. Olga joins Dechert from the London office of Chadbourne & Parke, and will divide her time between Dechert's Moscow and London offices. She graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University Faculty of Law, summa cum laude, in 1999, and holds a Graduate Diploma in Law (2009) from the BPP School of Law (London, UK). Olga is fluent in English, in addition to her native Russian language.
Timur Djabbarov, associate, specializes in commercial litigation, intellectual property, real estate, debt recovery, and product liability matters. He also has represented clients on bankruptcy and criminal matters. Timur was previously an associate at Salans, and prior to that, an associate at Noerr Stiefenhofer Lutz. Timur graduated with a specialist degree in international trade law from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in 2004. He is fluent in German and English, in addition to his native Russian language.
Yuri Makhonin, associate, advises on commercial, real estate, construction, corporate, debt recovery and administrative disputes. Yuri also has broad experience in advising Russian and international clients on real estate, development and construction projects in Russia, as well as in providing legal support on M&A transactions. Yuri was previously an associate at Salans, and prior to that, an associate at Noerr Stiefenhofer Lutz. Yuri graduated, magna cum laude, from the Moscow State Linguistics University Faculty of Law in 2006. He is fluent in English, in addition to his native Russian language.
