Norton Rose appoints new corporate finance partner

Norton Rose Norton Rose LLP, the international legal practice, today announced that Ian Lopez is to join as a corporate finance partner in the communications, media and technology team. Ian was previously at Allen&Overy. His experience includes public and private M&A; redomiciliation and equity capital markets work. He has worked on a number of high profile matters including advising Nasdaq on its £4 billion hostile bid for the London Stock Exchange ; advising Gyrus Group PLC on its £1 billion takeover by Olympus Corp and advising WPP Group PLC, United Business Media and Beazley Group plc on their respective redomiciliations. Tim Marsden, Global Head of Corporate Finance, commented:“Ian is a great hire for us. His experience will further strengthen our offering in all the principal sectors of corporate finance and in particular he will use his experience in the technology and telecoms sector.” Mike Rebeiro, Global Head of the Communications, Media and Technology (CMT) commented: “The convergence of communications, technology and media is finally occurring and as anticipated, we have seen a rise in global M&A activity in these sectors. Partner Mike Knapper joined as an intellectual property partner from The Thomson Corporation in September 2006 also.
