International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised a group of six lenders (including The Royal Bank of Scotland plc) in respect of the £1.5bn debt restructuring of Four Seasons Health Care, the care home operator. Discussions on the complex restructuring, involving ten tranches of debt, had been ongoing for more than a year before a lock-up agreement in respect of a fully consensual restructuring was signed earlier this week. The deal involves a substantial debt for equity swap and an extension of the term of the remaining debt. The Freshfields team advising on the matter was led by Simon Johnson and included fellow finance partner Chris Howard, as well as finance associates Jonathan Birks and Michael Evans.
