Shearman & Sterling advises The McGraw-Hill Companies in the sale of BusinessWeek to Bloomberg L.P.

Shearman & Sterling represented The McGraw-Hill Companies in its agreement to sell BusinessWeek to Bloomberg L.P. The transaction is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2009. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Founded in 1888, The McGraw-Hill Companies is a leading global information services provider meeting worldwide needs in the financial services, business intelligence and education markets through leading brands such as Standard & Poor's, McGraw-Hill Education, Platts, Capital IQ, J.D. Power and Associates, McGraw-Hill Construction and Aviation Week. Bloomberg is the leading global provider of data, news and analytics. The BLOOMBERG PROFESSIONAL(R) service (commonly known as the "Bloomberg terminal") and Bloomberg's media services provide real-time and archived financial and market data, pricing, trading, news and communications tools in a single, integrated package to corporations, news organizations, financial and legal professionals and individuals around the world.
Shearman & Sterling's team was led by partner Christa D'Alimonte (New York-Mergers & Acquisitions) and associates James Loftus and Assaad Nasr (both New York-Mergers & Acquisitions). Other attorneys working on the matter included partners Wayne Dale Collins (New York-Antitrust), Kenneth Laverriere (New York-Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits), Hans Jürgen Meyer-Lindemann (Brussels-Antitrust), Brian Polovoy (New York-Litigation) and James Tallon (New York-Litigation); associate Mark Gelman (New York-Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits), and special associate Kelly Karapetyan (New York-Antitrust).
