Clifford Chance elects new managing partner of UK and Middle East

David Bickerton has been elected Regional Managing Partner of Clifford Chance in the UK and the Middle East. David takes over from Jeremy Sandelson, who has recently been voted global head of the Firm's litigation practice.
David joined the Firm in 1987 became a partner in 1997, and currently heads the London capital markets practice.
Managing Partner David Childs said: "Clifford Chance has a leading capital markets practice and I would like to thank David for his contribution to its success. Under his leadership the London capital markets practice has performed strongly and I believe that David has demonstrated all the right attributes to make him an outstanding leader of the London and Middle East offices."
David Bickerton commented: "We have a dynamic and successful London and Middle East region with many talented people and an enviable list of clients and mandates. A good demonstration of this is our recent roles advising Kraft on the acquisition of Cadbury, Deutsche Telekom on the proposed merger of T-Mobile with Orange and on a number of ground breaking M&A transactions in the Middle East region.

Clifford Chance's London office has over 1,700 employees, including 190 partners. The Middle East offices, comprising Dubai and Abu Dhabi, have 130 employees including 17 partners.
