DLA Piper announced that it has appointed Jean L'Homme as a new partner in its Finance & Projects practice in Paris, effective November 15 2009. His arrival will reinforce the project finance, PPP and financial services capabilities of the office. Jean's experience covers a broad range of practice in banking and finance, including syndicated lending, asset finance, acquisition finance, with a particular expertise in infrastructure projects, PPP and financial services. He advises banks, construction companies, private operators, governments and public agencies in relation to their infrastructure projects and public-private partnerships, principally in France and in North Africa. He is also particularly skilled in financial services, and acts for investment banks, investment services providers, investment management companies, investment funds, insurance companies and other financial institutions in relation to a wide range of regulatory issues relevant to their businesses. Jean, 48 years old, started his career in 1987 at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he became partner in 1996. From 2000 to 2008, he developed and co-managed the project finance - PPP team within the Finance group in Paris. Jean also , in parallel, managed the Financial Services group. He joined the Paris office of Proskauer Rose in April 2008. Jean holds a law degree from the University of Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). Commenting on Jean's arrival, Véronique Collin, Head of DLA Piper's Finance & Projects practice in Paris, said: "I am delighted to welcome Jean in our team. He is an experienced attorney who has advised on the highest profile infrastructure and PPP projects in the market, and who, in addition, has an extensive experience of financial services regulatory matters. Jean will play a key role in strengthening our capabilities in these areas in Paris." With the addition of Jean L'Homme, DLA Piper's Finance & Projects practice in Paris now has three partners and three associates. The team advises banks and corporates in various capacities, such as lender, borrower, guarantor, equity investor or hedge provider. The team very active in both the domestic and global market, advising on banking and finance matters in debt restructurings, real estate finance, asset finance, structured finance (including acquisition finance and securitisation), project finance - PPP and financial services. The practice is particularly active in the energy sector, advising utilities, producers of energy, financial institutions, investors and manufacturers on renewable energies (wind, solar, biomass), electricity (including nuclear power), waste management, oil and gas, energy savings projects and emission regulations and trading.
