The Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz has appointed Dr Angelika Thies, partner at CMS Hasche Sigle, as an honorary professor. She has been lecturing there in the Department of Business Taxation (Prof. Roland Euler) in an external capacity since 2001. Each winter semester she offers a lecture entitled "Tax planning for corporate transactions and restructuring" and in the summer semester she delivers one on "Taxation of international corporations". Prof. Angelika Thies is a tax consultant with a degree in Economics. She has been part of the CMS Hasche Sigle organisation since 2004, initially as a shareholder and director of CMS GmbH Steuerberatungsgesellschaft, and since 2008 as a partner at CMS Hasche Sigle. Her main specialist areas are tax advice on corporate transactions (including tax due diligence and structuring), corporate reorganisation and international tax planning. Prof. Thies also advises private equity firms and acts in the areas of real estate transactions, transfer pricing, employee profit-sharing models, corporate succession and fiscal court proceedings.
