Norton Rose advises Constellation Europe on the disposal of its cider business

International legal practice Norton Rose LLP has advised Constellation Europe Limited on the sale of its cider business (which includes brands such as Gaymers, Blackthorn and Olde English) to C&C Cider Limited (part of the group which owns Magners cider) for a cash consideration of £45 million. Completion of the acquisition will occur in January 2010. Constellation Europe is a subsidiary of Constellation Brands, Inc., the biggest producer of wine in the world. This is our first major corporate finance transaction for Constellation since our successful panel appointment in 2008. The Norton Rose LLP team was led by Alan Crookes and Mike Knapper assisted by Miranda Byrne Hill, Esther Clothier, Iain Millar, Emma Thompson and Gemma Del Pozzo. The team also included Raj Mangat, Anastasia Gorokhova, Lesley Browning, Shane O'Reilly, Dominic Stuttaford, Julia Lloyd, Michael Grenfell, Joosje Hamilton, Lucy Fletcher, David Beckenham, Radford Goodman, Camilla De Moraes, Caroline-Lucy Moran and Kate Freeman. The Norton Rose LLP team worked closely with the Constellation in-house legal team comprising Tom Mullin (General Counsel of Constellation Brands), Deepak Malhotra (General Counsel of Constellation Europe) and Nikki Pink. Lawrence Graham acted on the other side with Paul Walker leading the team.
