Norton Rose advises Bank of Scotland on the restructuring and sale of 3B Biofuels

International law firm Norton Rose LLP advised Bank of Scotland plc as senior lender in connection with the restructuring and sale of 3B Biofuels GmbH & Co. KG by Babcock & Brown to Mercuria Energy Group Ltd. The transaction included the sale of all senior debt and the related security. 3B Biofuels owns and operates a state of the art facility with multi-feedstock technology located in Brunsbüttel, Germany with an annual capacity of 230,000 tons. Norton Rose previously advised Bank of Scotland in relation to the financing of the refinery and its expansion in summer 2007. The transaction was led by Lars Jessen (corporate/restructuring, Frankfurt) and Jochen Terpitz (energy and infrastructure, Frankfurt), assisted by Sebastian Karpe, Marlene Martin, Katrin Vedder, Marc Oehler, and Kevin Quennet. Tax advice with respect to Germany was delivered by Frankfurt tax partner Uwe Hartmann, assisted by Alexander Skuratovski. London tax partner Chris Bates advised on UK tax issues.
