Freshfields advises Alberto Culver on acquisition of Simple Health & Beauty Group Ltd

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised leading beauty care products manufacturer and marketer Alberto Culver on its agreement to acquire Simple Health & Beauty Group Limited, a leading UK-based skin care company, from Duke Street, a mid-market private equity fund. Under the terms of the agreement, announced yesterday, Alberto Culver will acquire Simple for £240 million. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2009. The Freshfields team advising on the deal was led by corporate partners Julian Long and Claire Wills, and included fellow partners Nick Squire (employment, pensions and benefits), Justin Watts (IP/IT), Sean Pierce (finance), Emma Kendall (real estate), Jonathan Cooklin (tax) and Rod Carlton (antitrust, competition and trade).
