SJ Berwin senior associate appointed as OFT Director of Mergers

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) today announced the appointment of SJ Berwin senior associate, Sheldon Mills, as its new director of mergers. He joins the OFT on 15 February. Simon Holmes, head of EU & Competition at SJ Berwin in London, commented “While we will miss Sheldon, his appointment is a credit to the excellent merger experience he has had with SJ Berwin over the last few years: we wish him the very best in his new role. This is a good example of the “revolving door” between private practice and the competition authorities - a development which we welcome having recently recruited the former Deputy Head of Cartels at the OFT, Philipp Girardet”. Sheldon Mills added “I have had some great experience in competition law at SJ Berwin but the chance to serve as Director of Mergers at the OFT was too good an opportunity to turn down”.
