Reed Smith adds securities litigation partner in Northern California

Clyde Howrey partner David Lisi joins the firm’s Silicon Valley office

Reed Smith LLP has announced the addition of former Howrey partner David Lisi as a partner in its Global Regulatory Enforcement Group in the firm’s Silicon Valley office, effective immediately.
“David brings strong capability in securities and commercial litigation to the Silicon Valley office to complement our already strong transactional practices there,” said James Gallatin, Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Global Regulatory Enforcement Group. “Reed Smith’s rapidly growing international regulatory litigation and investigations practice will also benefit greatly from the addition of David’s capabilities in Northern California.”
Reed Smith’s Global Regulatory Enforcement Group includes more than 120 lawyers around the world who focus primarily on the areas of government investigations, antitrust, securities, exports and customs, government contracts, data security and privacy, white collar criminal investigations, and defence and environmental issues.
In addition to focusing on securities and commercial litigation, David has experience in antitrust and FCPA investigations. He represents U.S. and international technology companies, advises corporate directors, and defends individuals, companies and underwriters in shareholder class action lawsuits, and merger and acquisition disputes, and in proceedings before the Department of Justice, SEC and NASD. David also has conducted numerous special investigations for audit committees and special litigation committees for domestic and international clients.
“Reed Smith’s overall platform, and specifically the corporate capabilities of the Silicon Valley office, are an excellent complement for my litigation practice” David commented. “Many of my business relationships in the Silicon Valley are among the traditional smaller and mid-size companies, and they will certainly find the breadth of geographic and practice group diversification that Reed Smith offers to be very attractive. And on a personal level, it is very exciting to become part of a new venture within such a dynamic firm.”
Prior to Howrey, which he joined in 2006, David was a partner at Fenwick & West in Silicon Valley, and before that he was with Cooley Godward. As an associate out of law school, he started his legal career at Wilson Sonsini, where he did much of his training as a securities litigator. David received his undergraduate degree in English Literature from Yale University in 1983 and his J.D from Cornell Law School in 1991.
“Many of our Silicon Valley and San Francisco partners have known David for a long time and have worked with him over the years, and they admire his legal talent, business acumen, and personal qualities,” said Jack Nelson, a Silicon Valley-based Reed Smith partner and the firm’s Litigation Department Vice Chair. “David’s existing strong personal relationships with his new partners offer a perfect opportunity for him and for us to make an immediate and positive impact both on our client relationships and within the firm. We couldn’t be more delighted to have him on board.”
