Shearman & Sterling LLP Represents Bunge Limited on Acquisition of Brazilian Fertilizer Nutrients Assets by Vale S.A.

Shearman & Sterling is advising Bunge Limited in the US in connection with the planned acquisition by Vale S.A. of Bunge’s assets in Brazil relating to its fertilizer nutrients business, including its 42% interest in Fertilizantes Fosfatados S.A. (Fosfertil), in a transaction valued at US$3.8 billion. Souza Cescon Barrieu & Flesch Advogados is acting as legal advisors in Brazil for Bunge in this transaction. Bunge Limited is a leading global agribusiness and food company founded in 1818 and headquartered in White Plains, New York. The company supplies fertilizer to farmers; originates, transports and processes oilseeds, grains and other agricultural commodities; produces food products for commercial customers and consumers; and supplies raw materials and services to the biofuels industry. Vale S.A. is a leading global mining company based in Brazil.
