International law firm SJ Berwin’s real estate division has advised The British Land Company plc on the letting of 217,000 sq ft of its Ropemaker Place scheme, London EC2 to Macquarie Group, the international financial services company. The letting continues British Land’s leasing success in the building, where nearly 80% of the office accommodation is now spoken for. SJ Berwin had advised on the pre-letting of around 38% of the new 586,000 sq ft office development to The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Mitsubishi UFJ Securities in April of last year. This was followed by British Land’s lettings to Liberum Capital and Mint Equities. Real estate partner Lewis Myers led the SJ Berwin team, assisted by associate Rupert Dowdell. Real estate partner Julian Innes’ Taylor, assisted by managing associate Catherine Palmer advised Linklaters.
