NOTICIAS/ NEWS DEALS - OPERACIONES published MARCH 22, 2010 Freshfields advises VEM on €3.6bn sale of Ratiopharm to Teva International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP has advised holding company VEM Vermögensverwaltung GmbH on the sale of German-based generics drugs producer Merckle/Ratiopharm group to Israeli Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd for €3.625bn. The sale was preceded by a competitive auction process involving numerous strategic and private equity investors with several bidders involved in parallel negotiations. Freshfields had also advised VEM on the restructuring of the group prior to the sale. The Freshfields team acting for VEM was led by corporate partners Andreas Fabritius and Oliver von Rosenberg and also included partners Christian Sistermann (tax), Yorck Jetter (finance), Marcel Kaufmann (pharma regulatory), Thomas Lübbig (competition) and Jochen Dieselhorst (pharma IP/IT).
