PINOVA Capital has acquired a stake in nanocoating manufacturer Hemoteq AG. PINOVA acquired the shares held by an existing shareholder in April 2010 and will support the company’s international growth. Hemoteq CFO Thomas Löwen is also acquiring a stake as part of the transaction. A team from CMS Hasche Sigle led by Dr Ulrich Springer advised PINOVA Capital on all aspects of the transaction. Headquartered in the German town of Würselen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Hemoteq AG is a leading European specialist in biocompatible and drug eluting surfaces. The company develops ultrathin functional coatings and surface modification solutions for medical products, while also supporting its customers in obtaining regulatory approval and providing sophisticated coating capacity for volume production. The application focus is on cardiology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and dentistry. Munich-based PINOVA Capital is an independent private equity firm focused on SMEs in the German-speaking countries. PINOVA invests between EUR 3 million and EUR 15 million by taking minority and majority positions in high-growth engineering and services companies within a revenue bracket of EUR 5 million to EUR 100 million.
