The Lielje Group, an alliance of specialist clinics, has sold its specialist clinic for acute geriatrics and geriatric rehabilitation (Salze Clinic I) in the Lower Saxony town of Bad Salzdetfurth to RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG. The purchase agreement was certified by a notary on 20 May 2010. The acquisition and execution of the purchase agreement are subject to consent by the shareholders' meeting of the vendor. A team from CMS Hasche Sigle led by Rolf-Christian Stratz and Dr Jörg Lips advised the Lielje Group on all aspects of the transaction. Salze Clinic I operates departments for acute geriatrics, geriatric rehabilitation, cardiological and orthopaedic rehabilitation with a total of 165 beds. The facility provides qualified aftercare for cardiological and orthopaedic patients as part of post-hospital curative treatment as well as individual treatment regimes in a seamless transition from acute to rehabilitation clinic. RHÖN-KLINIKUM has announced that there will no redundancies among the 150 or so full-time employees of Salze Clinic I. The purchase price was not disclosed. The neighbouring specialist clinic for orthopaedics and post-hospital curative treatment (Salze Clinic II) remains part of the Lielje Group alliance. It has 95 full-time employees and 194 beds. Going forward, the contract partners have agreed on cooperation between Salze Clinic I and II. This will include sharing on-call medical services and shared use of medical equipment.
