NOTICIAS/ NEWS DEALS - OPERACIONES published May 28, 2010 Baker & McKenzie Advises on Major Ukrainian Eurobond A multi-jurisdictional Baker & McKenzie team has advised the mining and steel company Metinvest BV on its debut offering of US$500,000,000 10.25% Guaranteed Notes due 2015. The notes are listed and admitted to trading on the Global Exchange Market of the Irish Stock Exchange. Metinvest's CFO Sergiy Novikov said: "We were one of the first in the region to issue Eurobonds in the aftermath of the global financial crisis, and this was both a challenge and a most creative work of all of our team and our counsel Baker & McKenzie. We have succeeded and look forward to new exciting transactions in the international markets." Baker & McKenzie Kyiv partner Serhiy Chorny, who co-led the transaction, said: " We were pleased to work with our client on this significant transaction. Our combined experience and the coordinated work of the joint Kyiv-London team enabled us to bring the offering to a successful completion." Metinvest owns the largest fully vertically-integrated mining and steel business in Ukraine with assets in Europe and North America. The Baker & McKenzie team was led by London Corporate Partner Roy Pearce alongside Kyiv Partner Serhiy Chorny and London Senior Associate Iryna Nagayets. Support was provided by London Partners Chris Hogan and Edward Bibko and Associate Natasha Izmaylova; Kyiv Associates Olexander Svyryd and Victoria Ischenko; Amsterdam Counsel Ella van Kranenburg; and Zurich Partner Frano Koslar.
