Norton Rose lawyer short listed for LawWorks Pro Bono Awards

A trainee lawyer at the London office of international legal practice Norton Rose LLP has been short listed against partners and associates from other top City firms for an award by LawWorks designed to recognise pro bono legal contributions in the UK. Bobby Kensah will compete for the prize, to be awarded later in June.
Norton Rose lawyer short listed for LawWorks Pro Bono AwardsLawWorks runs the award scheme as part of its campaign to support, promote and encourage greater commitment to pro bono legal work in the UK. The shortlist for this year’s prize includes representatives from Hogan Lovells, Freshfields, Clifford Chance and Slaughter & May, as well as Bobby Kensah from Norton Rose LLP.
Bobby’s pro bono work this year has taken a number of forms, including advising vulnerable individuals in police custody, taking up voluntary advisory roles, and involvement in much of the work completed by Norton Rose LLP in support of various Law Centres.
Patrick Farrell, a partner at Norton Rose LLP, commented: “The activities LawWorks undertakes and the award scheme it runs have been very effective in promoting the pro bono cause, and getting more lawyers involved in this type of work. That’s why being nominated for this award is a fantastic achievement for Bobby. It’s testament to the work he puts in over and above his day to day job, and the dedication he shows in supporting those in need.”
Bobby Kensah, trainee lawyer at Norton Rose LLP, commented: “Pro bono work is incredibly rewarding, and an ideal way for the legal profession to give back to the wider community. It’s something that’s positively encouraged at Norton Rose, and something I’ve been given a lot of opportunities to get involved with.
“Personally, it has helped me to better understand the community I live and work in, and has given me a deep insight into the benefits a knowledge of the law can bring.”
