Baker & McKenzie has advised KDD Group N.V., one of the leading real estate investment and development groups in Ukraine, on the various matters relating to the hotel management agreement for a 5-star hotel. The upscale hotel facilities will be located in the multi-use commercial facilities known as "Sky Towers" to be developed in Kyiv and will be operated by Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts. The Kyiv office of Baker & McKenzie's real estate practitioners provided legal advice with respect to the corporate structuring of the project and negotiating a set of hotel management agreements. Swissôtel Kyiv Hotel will be a hotel complex of approximately 513 guest rooms and food and beverage outlets, conference center, function space and Pürovel operated recreation facilities. It will be located on a crossroad of Peremogy Avenue and Borshchagivska Street in Kyiv, Ukraine. This will be the first Swissôtel in Kyiv planned to be open in Kyiv. On a side of Baker & McKenzie, the project was primarily conducted by Maxim Sokiran, Counsel. Commenting on the news, Oleksandr Levin, Chairman of KDD Group N.V. said: "We are very pleased to work with Baker & McKenzie team. Baker & McKenzie has already helped us on implementing our core strategy, having advised on AIM IPO back in December 2007, where the company raised USD130 million." Maxim Sokiran added: "We are delighted to help KDD Group N.V. to join Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts - one of the world's most famous hotel operators entering, with this project, the Ukrainian travel and leisure market. Expansion of another international hotel chain to Ukraine is a steady improvement, if we consider current market trend and fast approaching EURO-2012 giving very positive signal to the local market." This is another closed international hotel management deal in portfolio of Baker & McKenzie's similar projects (including InterContinental Kyiv, Hyatt Regency Kyiv, Crowne Plaza Kyiv, Hilton Kyiv and others).
