NOTICIAS/ NEWS DEALS - OPERACIONES published July 01, 2010 SJ Berwin advises Segro on completion of acquisition of 50% of BAA's airport property partnership and sale of £237 million assets to APP International law firm SJ Berwin has advised Europe’s leading provider of flexible business space, SEGRO, on the completion of the acquisition of BAA’s 50% interest in the Airport Property Partnership ("APP") and the sale of £237 million of its assets to APP. APP is the 50/50 joint venture with Aviva Investors, focused on airport-related industrial assets in and around major UK airports. The assets sold from SEGRO’s existing portfolio include North Feltham Trading Estate, Poyle 14 at Heathrow and the Gatwick International Distribution Centre at Crawley. These assets will enlarge the APP portfolio from £447 million to £684 million. APP funded the acquisition through drawing on its committed debt facilities and by approximately £70 million of new equity from each partner. This completes the first major deal SJ Berwin has acted upon for SEGRO since being appointed to its panel at the beginning of the year. The SJ Berwin team was led by real estate partner Jo Footitt, assisted by associates, Simon Tweedle, banking, Barri Mendelson, corporate and Louise Cartwright, real estate. Andrew Carter and Julian Pollock of Herbert Smith advised BAA and Anthony Grossman and Alison Clarke of BLP advised Aviva.
