Günther Holding GmbH, Hamburg, has acquired key parts of Rohwedder AG, Bermatingen, via its subsidiary AIM – Assembly in Motion GmbH. AIM has taken over the plants at Bermatingen (including the site) and Bruchsal from Rohwedder. Listed company Rohwedder AG has been insolvent since the end of March 2010. The business in Bermatingen will now trade under the company name Rohwedder Macro Assembly GmbH and will continue to operate with around 100 employees. The plant in Bruchsal was part of Siemens until 2004 and will continue under the name Rohwedder Micro Assembly GmbH. It has some 60 employees. A CMS team led by Dr Sebastian Orthmann advised Günther Holding GmbH on all aspects of the transaction. The Rohwedder Group is a leading provider of system solutions and standard products for automation technology. Rohwedder automation equipment is used mainly in the following industries: automotive suppliers, telecommunications and electronics, and medical technology. This transaction enables Günther Holding to complement and boost its engineering activities for the automotive supplier industry. AIM will manage the acquired units together with ELWEMA Automotive GmbH, which has been part of Günther Holding for some years now. Rohwedder and ELWEMA complement each other on the product and customer side, creating a company that specialises in cleaning, testing and assembly technology. The combined workforce of Rohwedder and ELWEMA will total around 260 employees, with sales revenue of around EUR 65 million expected for the first full financial year in 2011.
