Clifford Chance recruits leading M&A lawyer

International law firm Clifford Chance announced today that Tim Lewis is to join the Firm's global corporate practice as a partner in the London office.
Currently a senior M&A partner at Macfarlanes, Tim brings a leading reputation for public and private M&A and equity capital markets to the Firm's highly rated corporate practice. He has over 24 years experience, working for a broad range of major corporates and investment banks.
Matthew Layton, global head of Clifford Chance's corporate practice said, "As one of the most respected lawyers in the M&A market, Tim is a significant addition to our London team at a very senior level. His proven track record and experience, having worked on many major M&A transactions, will further strengthen our resource in servicing our existing clients and will enable us to continue the growth and development of our practice in London. Tim joined Macfarlanes in 1985 and became a partner in 1994. During this time, he has worked on a number of high profile matters including the $9bn acquisition of Vin & Spirit for Pernod Ricard and the £8bn acquisition of Hanson plc by HeidelbergCement.
Clifford Chance's global corporate practice has 163 partners operating out of 29 offices. Since the beginning of 2010, the corporate practice has advised on some key deals including: advising Kraft on its £10.2bn offer for Cadbury, Babcock International on its £1.2bn bid for VT and Pfizer on the competition aspects of its $68 billion bid for Wyeth.
